They work for advertising agencies or media planning and purchasing firms, and their goal is to maximise the effect of advertising campaigns across a variety of media channels, such as radio, television, the Internet, and billboards. Responsibilities

- For the launch of media campaigns, collaborate closely with marketing and sales departments.
- Maintain positive connections with advertising agencies and owners of media outlets such as newspapers, magazines, websites, and radio and television stations.
- Find a media combination that will allow us to effectively communicate our message.
- Locate and buy advertising space in print magazines or television marketplaces.
- Work well with the organisation’s media strategists and purchasers.
- Keep up with the latest industry statistics, such as distribution and audience numbers.
- Budgets should be allocated and expenses should be monitored.
- Keep up with the latest media trends from both online and offline sources (TV shows, magazines, blogs, radio programs)
- Assess the success of media campaigns and initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven expertise as a media planner; digital media expertise is desired.
- A broad understanding of media outlets.
- Understanding of campaign assessment measures and media purchasing.
- An understanding of analytics software (e.g. GfK MRI, MOAT, Nielsen IMS.
